Elliot M. Katzman
Elliot Katzman has more than 30 years of experience as a venture investor, founder, and executive, having built some of New England’s most successful technology companies. At Commonwealth Capital Ventures, Elliot has achieved a 6X multiple on invested capital, > 30 % IRR and a .750 batting average. His investments include Acacia Communications (#1 technology IPO in 2016), Echo Nest (acquired by Spotify), Vela Systems (acquired by Autodesk) and Cloudswitch (acquired by Verizon). In addition, Elliot serves on the boards of Seniorlink and Onshape and is a Senior Advisor at Magic Leap.
Before joining Commonwealth, Elliot led investments in five companies including Newforma, and Spaceclaim (acquired by Ansys). In addition, Elliot has served on the board of Watchfire (acquired by IBM) and Epicon (acquired by Nortel).
Before becoming a venture capitalist, Katzman spent over 20 years as an executive building four highly successful companies including Myteam.com (Active Network -IPO), SolidWorks, (Dassault Systems), Atria Software (IPO) and Epoch Systems (EMC).
As both a senior executive and investor, Katzman is recognized for his expertise in business strategy, business model optimization and strategic business development, working with management and boards to optimize business value and help create market leading companies. Katzman is well known for forming strong long term relationships with highly respected entrepreneurs, working with them on multiple projects over time. Many of the companies that Katzman has been involved with have had first-time CEOs, and he has become a trusted adviser.
Elliot currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Salem State University where he graduated in 1978. In addition, he is a former Trustee of St Johns Prep High School and Board of Fellows of Trinity College.
