If you’re looking for information about this morning’s tragic earthquake in Italy, typing “earthquake italy” into search.twitter.com will show you a stream of tweets that mostly express Twitterers’ reactions: “Very bad earthquake in Italy today, praying for my friends across the sea.”
The same search on OneRiot’s new Twitter search returns a list of solidly reported news stories and thoughtful blog posts. That’s because OneRiot searches not the tweets themselves, but the Web pages linked to from within them. I wrote about OneRiot in March, but the site’s Twitter search is a new feature added last week.
