Commonwealth Capital Ventures, a venture capital firm that invests in software and software-based services, Internet and digital media, communications technology, and instruments and systems, today announced that J. Casey Gibbons and Joel J. Rodriguez have joined the investment team. As Associates at Commonwealth, they will work with the general partners on investment identification and due diligence, and work closely with portfolio companies.
“We look for people with the unique combination of intelligence, analytical thinking, relationship skills and work ethic that Casey and Joel possess for our Associates Program,” said Mike Fitzgerald, founder and managing general partner at Commonwealth Capital Ventures. “Through our collaborative approach to investing, both of our new Associates will have the opportunity to bring this distinguishing blend of skills and traits to bear to the benefit of Commonwealth, our portfolio companies and our investors, and we look forward to their contributions.”
Casey Gibbons joined Commonwealth in August. He comes to the firm from NextPlay, a provider of Software as a Service (SaaS)-based applications for high school athletes and college coaches engaged in the recruiting process, where he was Co-Founder and CEO. Gibbons is a 2006 graduate of Williams College.
Joel Rodriguez joined Commonwealth in September. He comes to the firm from Bain & Company, where he most recently served as a Senior Associate Consultant. At Bain, he developed and implemented corporate strategies as a member of the Generalist Consulting Group and performed due diligence and industry evaluations as a member of the Private Equity Group. Rodriguez is a 2006 graduate of Duke University.
