WebEx Deploys Pactolus SIP-based Voice Conferencing

October 13, 2004 - Westborough, MA

Pactolus Communications Software Corporation, a leading provider of SIP-based voice services, today announced that WebEx Communications Inc., the leading provider of on-demand web meeting applications, has deployed Pactolus SIPware Conference Calling technology in the WebEx MediaTone Network. This effort tightly integrates Pactolus within the WebEx meeting environment to provide multimedia capabilities that include high quality IP voice conferencing services.

"We did an exhaustive review of SIP-based voice conferencing applications and decided to integrate the Pactolus conference calling application," said Shawn Farshchi, chief information officer of WebEx Communications. "The Pactolus software framework gave us the necessary open interfaces to seamlessly blend our two platforms together, and the scalability and reliability our business users have come to expect."

Pactolus utilizes SIP, the emerging standard for IP voice services, to deliver IP-based solutions that allow telecommunications carriers and service providers to drive down the cost and accelerate time-to-market of high-value services.

"We are very pleased that Webex chose us as the voice conferencing component of its market leading web meeting service," said Paul Blondin, chairman and CEO of Pactolus. "This strategic step by WebEX to embrace our SIP-based conferencing services is yet another indication that IP-based voice services are becoming an integral part of some of the world's largest service-oriented networks."

WebEx manages a global network over which it delivers a range of web meeting applications including applications for web conferencing, online sales calls, web-based support, remote training and online events. These applications help businesses accelerate the sales cycle, increase revenue, improve employee productivity, speed products to market, enhance customer satisfaction and decrease training and travel costs. The company provides its on-demand applications to corporations, technology companies and telecommunication providers worldwide. All of WebEx's applications are built on the MediaTone(TM) switching platform and delivered through the WebEx MediaTone Network, the only global network specifically designed for real-time collaboration.
